The
old Chenghuang Temple in Yuyuan Market is the origin of traditional culture in
Shanghai. Its unique location provided the freedom of creativity for folk
craftsmen. Today, a new generation of folk craftsmen continue this long history
of tradition and culture, re-discover and exhibit the splendor of Chinese
craftsmanship.
Many people from folk handicrafts team in Shanghai Yuyuan Culture Promoting
& Publicizing Co., Ltd often serve as cultural ambassadors and travel
oversea to participate in different fairs and festivals. Many even received
certificates from UN's cultural divisions. Through their work, others can
appreciate the essence of Chinese culture. The wide range of their skills can
also demonstrate the richness in Chinese craftsmanship.
In recent years, our craftsmen often received invitation to demonstrate their
handicrafts in important festivals around the world. Such invitations came from
the Harvard Foundation, UN's TIPS, Shanghai Business Newspaper and others.
During the Shanghai APEC Convention, they were invited by the Shanghai Mayor's
Office to perform in Xintiandi for the convention's guests. In addition, they
have been invited to participate in festivals in Malaysia, Singapore,
Australia, South Korea and many other countries.
